Description

The fish has always known how to carry the weight of a blessing lightly. In Indian ornamental tradition, the fish or matsya is one of the oldest auspicious symbols, swimming through temple friezes, bridal trousseau and everyday adornment with equal confidence. This sterling silver ring gives the motif a quietly sculptural life: the fish form is rendered in solid silver, its body arching into a compact band that settles close to the finger. The piece weighs just 2.3 grams, keeping it genuinely wearable rather than ceremonial. Two colour finishes are offered, blue and brown, each achieved through careful surface treatment of the silver, lending the fish a particular depth without complicating the silhouette. At 0.2 inches (approximately 0.5 cm) in height, the profile is low and clean. Available in sizes 5 and 6, the ring reads as both a considered gift and a personal acquisition from a maker working squarely within the subcontinental tradition of figurative silver jewellery. Wear it alone on the index finger with a handloom cotton kurta for an understated daily flourish, or stack it against a plain silver band when dressing for a small festive gathering where you want ornament without excess. Sterling silver at this weight requires only a light polish with a dry cloth to restore its lustre. The low profile means it sits comfortably under a cuff or sleeve, and the compact silhouette makes it a practical ring for daily wear without snagging on fabric.
