Description

A pendant that carries the old vocabulary of Indian glass-work in the quietest possible register. Sterling silver is pressed and shaped into a bold hanging form measuring two inches in height (approximately 5 cm) by one inch in width (approximately 2.5 cm), its surface worked to hold cabochon-set panes of red and green coloured glass in a composition that recalls the decorative sensibility of Rajasthani silver craft, where vivid colour and oxidised metal have always been natural companions. The glass catches light with a warmth that fine stones cannot always replicate, held within bezel-like settings that frame each colour cleanly. At seventeen-point-seven grams, the piece has genuine presence on the hand before it is even fastened, a weight that confirms the silver's integrity without tipping into discomfort. The silhouette suggests the flat, geometric pendants long associated with Jaipur's silver bazaars. Wear it against a block-colour cotton kurta in ivory or slate, where the red and green read as an intentional accent rather than ornament. It sits equally well over a fine merino turtleneck for a winter evening, the silver oxidation complementing muted earth tones. The pendant comes in a single free size and is suited to chains of standard thickness. Sterling silver at this weight wears daily without distortion; a light buff with a soft cloth restores its quiet lustre. The coloured glass is set securely and requires no special care beyond gentle handling.
