Description

There are stones that carry the earth inside them, and malachite is one. This pendant arrives in sterling silver, shaped into a clean vertical silhouette that measures 1.8 inches (approximately 4.6 cm) in height and 0.8 inches (approximately 2 cm) in width. A single cabochon of malachite sits at its centre, its concentric rings of deep forest green and pale jade shifting with the light the way no two stones ever shift alike. Sterling silver, worked to a smooth, cool finish, frames the stone with quiet authority. The setting is close and considered, allowing the malachite's natural banding to read without distraction. At just 6.8 grams, the pendant rests lightly against the sternum, its weight barely felt and yet somehow present. This is the kind of piece that belongs to a longer conversation about the Indian silversmith's tradition of honouring stone above ornament. Wear it on a fine silver chain over a cream silk kurta for a day meeting that needs one note of colour, or let it anchor a deep-toned linen dress at an evening gathering where you want to carry something considered rather than conspicuous. The free-size pendant suits most chain lengths and sits well at both collar and mid-chest. The sterling silver will develop a gentle patina over time, which only deepens its character. A soft cloth is all it asks for.
