Description

There are sounds that carry a universe inside them, and this is one. The Om symbol has been rendered in devotional silver for centuries, from the dhokra casters of Bengal to the filigree workshops of Cuttack, but this pendant belongs to a quieter register: a clean, sculptural interpretation in sterling silver, where the sacred syllable is given form without ornament. Measuring 2 inches in height by 1.3 inches in width (approximately 5 cm by 3.3 cm) and weighing a substantial 9.6 grams, the piece has real presence on the hand before it even reaches the neck. Sterling silver at this weight catches light with a cool, honest luminosity, neither gilded nor aged, simply the metal in its most sincere expression. The silhouette follows the classical Devanagari curve of the Om, each arc and stroke resolved into a smooth, polished finish that rewards close attention. Wear it on a fine silver chain over a cream silk kurta for a puja morning that carries its reverence quietly into the day. It sits equally well layered over a deep-set neckline at a family celebration, where it reads as heirloom rather than ornament. Free-sized and pendant-only, it suits both men and women. Sterling silver at this gauge is durable enough for daily wear; a soft dry cloth will keep the surface bright. The bail is proportioned to accept chains from fine gauge through to medium rope styles.
