Description
The nine stones speak before a word is said. Navaratna is among the oldest protective jewellery traditions on the subcontinent, its grammar unchanged for centuries: nine auspicious gemstones, each governing a celestial body, arranged around a central ruby with sapphire, emerald, pearl, coral, hessonite, cat's eye, topaz and diamond set in strict sequence. This sterling silver ring follows that sacred geometry faithfully, the stones held in raised collet settings that allow light to enter from beneath and illuminate each colour in turn. At 0.75 inches in height (roughly 1.9 cm), the face of the ring commands the finger without overwhelming it. The silver itself is worked to a clean, polished finish, its cool weight, just 5.7 grams, sitting with surprising comfort across a full day of wear. The ring moves well between registers. Wear it alone against a silk kurta in deep ivory for a festive lunch, where the scattered colour reads as deliberate and joyful. At a wedding mehendi, it layers naturally with gold bangles, the silver providing a quiet counterpoint rather than competition. Available in sizes 6, 7 and 8, the shank is proportioned to sit flush without pinching. Sterling silver requires only occasional polishing with a soft cloth to retain its brightness, and the collet settings protect the stones from daily movement. A considered piece for the wearer who understands that nine colours worn together are never merely decorative.
