Description

There are devotions that precede language, and this pendant is one of them. Mahakal, the lord who transcends time, has been rendered here in sterling silver with the seriousness the subject demands. The face of Shiva, wild-haired and third-eyed, emerges from a field of hand-worked silver in a tradition that owes as much to temple-town silversmiths as to the devotional metalwork long practised in pilgrimage corridors from Ujjain to Varanasi. The pendant is cast and finished to hold its relief with clarity, the oxidised detailing deepening the contours of matted locks, the crescent moon, and the expression of absolute stillness that only Mahakal possesses. At 1.3 inches in height and 0.75 inches in width (approximately 3.3 cm by 1.9 cm) and weighing 18.4 grams, it carries genuine presence without heaviness. Sterling silver ensures both purity and durability through daily wear. Worn on a black cotton cord for a monk-like restraint, or threaded onto a fine silver chain against a white kurta for a festival, this pendant moves between the quietly sacred and the quietly elegant. It suits Mahashivratri without effort; it is equally at home on a plain silk shirt at a Diwali gathering. Both sizes, the standard 1.3-inch and the larger 2.1-inch (approximately 5.3 cm by 3.2 cm), are available, allowing the wearer to choose their scale of devotion. The silver ages gracefully, deepening in character with time.
