Description

There are faces that do not merely decorate, but invoke. This sterling silver pendant is devoted entirely to the face of Ganesha, rendered in relief with the quiet authority of south Indian votive silversmithing. The broad forehead, the gently arching trunk, the large fanning ears, each element is given its own plane and shadow through careful chasing and repoussé-adjacent handwork that silvers have practised along temple towns from Nagercoil to Kanchipuram for generations. The finish is a warm oxidised silver, allowing the recessed contours to deepen and the raised features to catch light without pretension. No stones are set; the metal alone carries the devotion. At 1.65 inches in height and 1 inch in width (roughly 4.2 cm by 2.5 cm), the pendant sits with considered presence, and its 8.8 grams lend it a satisfying, unhurried weight in the palm. Worn on a fine silver box chain or a black silk cord, this pendant pairs with a Kanjivaram silk saree for a pooja or family ceremony, the silver cool against warm weave. It sits equally well over a white kurta or a simple cotton angarakha for a quieter daily devotion. The pendant is offered in free size, meaning the bail accommodates most chain thicknesses. Sterling silver at this gauge is durable enough for daily wear; a soft cloth and occasional gentle cleaning preserve the oxidised finish and its depth of tone over years of use.
