Description

There are forms of devotion that need no gilding. Khatu Shyam, the beloved deity of Rajasthan's Sikar district, is rendered here in sterling silver with the quiet authority that only this metal, at its most unadorned, can carry. The pendant measures 1.3 inches (approximately 3.3 cm) in height and 0.75 inches (approximately 1.9 cm) in width, its compact silhouette shaped to hold the deity's iconic countenance within a bordered frame that references the arched niches of temple architecture. Worked in sterling silver and weighing a precise 5 grams, the surface carries a raised relief that catches light without demanding it, finished to a tone consistent with antique silver traditions where patina is considered a form of reverence rather than neglect. No stone, no enamel, no gilding distracts from the deity's presence. The craft here is restraint itself. Wear it on a fine silver chain against a white cotton kurta for daily puja mornings, where simplicity is its own form of adornment. For a Navratri gathering, layer it over a deep ivory or indigo silk and let the silver speak without competition. The piece is free size by nature, suited to any chain width or length you prefer. At 5 grams, it sits lightly against the chest without pull or tilt. The sterling silver construction resists tarnish with basic care, making this a pendant equally at home in a daily ritual and a considered jewellery wardrobe.
