Description

There are birds that do not perch; they hover, trembling at the edge of stillness. This sterling silver hummingbird pendant captures exactly that suspended moment. Cast and finished by hand, the silhouette spreads to a generous 1.15 inches (2.92 cm) across its open wings, while the body rises 0.7 inches (1.78 cm) from tail to crown, keeping the overall depth to a fine 0.2 inches (0.51 cm). At 6 grams of solid sterling, it carries just enough presence to be felt against the skin. The surface is worked in oxidised silver, allowing shadow to gather in the feather detailing along the wings and breast so that the bird appears to tremble with life rather than lie flat. Silver of this grade, favoured by artisan workshops across Rajasthan and the tribal silversmithing traditions of central India, develops a quiet lustre with wear that no plated piece can replicate. Wear it on a slim sterling chain over a cream chanderi kurta for an afternoon gathering, or let it anchor a plain white cotton shirt on a working day when you want one considered detail to carry. The free-size bail fits chains up to a moderate width, making it easy to swap between a delicate box chain and a slightly heavier rope. The oxidised finish requires no special care beyond a soft cloth, and the 6-gram weight means it hangs steadily without pulling.
