Description

There are forms that do not merely decorate; they invoke. This pendant holds, in a single silhouette, two of Shaivism's most potent symbols: the trishul, its triple prongs rising from a clean central shaft, and the abstracted form of Shiva himself, compressed into the same plane of sterling silver. The design reads as a split image, left and right halves carrying distinct iconographic weight, unified by the craftsman's restraint. Worked entirely in sterling silver and finished to a bright polish, the piece relies on the purity of the metal and the precision of the cut form rather than stone or enamel. It sits at one point three inches tall (approximately three point three centimetres) and zero point six inches wide (approximately one point five centimetres), and weighs a composed three point eight grams. This is silversmithing in the devotional register, close to the votive silver traditions of South India and the temple-craft lineages of Nagercoil and Thanjavur, where form and faith are held to the same standard of exactness. Worn on a fine silver chain over a white cotton kurta, it is understated prayer. Against a silk blouse at a festive gathering, it becomes quiet spiritual adornment, appropriate for Mahashivratri, a pilgrimage, or any occasion where meaning matters more than spectacle. At free size, the pendant suits any chain gauge the wearer prefers. The bright sterling finish is robust for daily wear and responds well to a gentle silver cloth, keeping the surface clear and the iconography sharp.
