Description

She guards the threshold between knowledge and silence, and she travels with you. Mookambika, the presiding deity of Kollur in coastal Karnataka, is among the rarer goddesses rendered in silver jewellery. This pendant captures her seated form with the precision of a silversmith schooled in devotional iconography, a tradition that runs strong through temple-jewellery ateliers of South India and Bengal alike. Cast in sterling silver and hand-finished to a luminous, softly burnished surface, the goddess emerges with the weight of ritual confidence. At 1.6 inches high and 1.2 inches wide (approximately 4.1 cm by 3.0 cm), she occupies just the right register of the chest: present without overwhelming. The piece weighs 8.68 grams, substantial enough to feel grounded on the skin, light enough for daily devotion. No gilding, no stone setting; the silver alone does the speaking. Thread her on a fine black silk cord for temple visits paired with a Kanjeevaram or a chanderi silk saree. For quieter days, a delicate sterling chain brings her into an understated work ensemble, a linen kurta perhaps, where she reads as heirloom rather than ornament. Sized to suit all, the pendant arrives free-sized for the chain of your choosing. The sterling silver construction resists tarnish with routine care, a soft cloth and dry storage being sufficient. This is a piece bought eight times in India already, by those who understand that devotion and elegance need not be separate languages.
