Description

There are flowers that bloom once a season, and there are flowers wrought in silver that endure for generations. This pendant draws from the long tradition of floral silverwork practised across Rajasthan and the Deccan, where artisans have long understood that a blossom rendered in metal must carry the weight of the original without losing its lightness. Worked in sterling silver and measuring 2.25 inches (5.72 cm) in height by 2 inches (5.08 cm) in width, the piece fans outward in layered petals, each one shaped with deliberate hand-finishing. At the centre, a deep coral is encircled by seed pearls, with an amethyst set at the heart, the warm and cool tones held in a quiet conversation. The silver ground is left bright rather than oxidised, allowing the natural blush of coral and the violet depth of amethyst to speak for themselves. At 33.57 grams, the pendant has a satisfying presence without imposing weight on the wearer. Worn over an ivory or dusty-rose georgette kurta, the piece reads as heirloom without effort. For a contemporary pairing, it sits with equal confidence over a silk slip dress in ecru, anchoring an otherwise spare silhouette. The pendant hangs at a standard depth of 0.35 inches (0.89 cm), sitting close to the chest for a composed drape. Sterling silver benefits from occasional soft polishing; the secure gemstone settings mean this is a piece suited to regular, thoughtful wear rather than the occasional occasion alone.
