Description

There are syllables that predate language, and this is one of them. The Om, or Aum, is the seed-sound of existence: the first vibration, the last word, the breath between both. Rendered here in sterling silver, the pendant distils that cosmic weight into something intimate enough to rest at the hollow of a throat. The motif follows the classic Devanagari curve of the symbol, its sweeping lower arc, rising tail and the floating chandrabindu above it, all cast with the kind of quiet precision that silversmiths across Rajasthan and Bengal have practised for generations. Sterling silver, with its cool grey-white lustre and reliable purity, is the right metal for a devotional piece: unadorned, unhurried, honest. At just one gram in weight and measuring approximately one centimetre in height and just under one centimetre in width, the pendant sits close to the skin without drama. Wear it threaded on a fine silver chain beneath a raw-silk kurta for morning prayer or quiet contemplation. It is equally at home on a delicate cord layered with rudraksha beads for a meditation retreat or a classical music evening. The piece comes in a single, universal size and requires no adjustment. Its polished silver finish resists tarnish well with ordinary care, and its compact form, barely a gram on the fingertip, makes it a pendant one reaches for daily, not occasionally. Twenty-one buyers across India have already made it a constant.
