Description

There are prayers that need no words, only a shape worn close to the skin. The Om symbol is perhaps the oldest design commission ever given to a silversmith: to render the unrenderable, to give the primordial syllable a body. This pendant does exactly that in sterling silver, a metal with a long history in devotional jewellery across Bengal and Rajasthan alike, where silversmiths have worked the alloy into everything from temple votive pieces to everyday talismans. The motif is cast and finished to read cleanly, the sacred syllable sitting within its silhouette with quiet confidence. At one inch in height (approximately 2.5 cm) and 0.6 inch in width (approximately 1.5 cm), and weighing just two grams, the pendant is neither assertive nor absent. It occupies the chest with the measured presence of something genuinely believed in. Wear it on a fine silver chain against a cream-coloured handloom kurta for a morning of quiet rituals, or layer it over a deep-toned silk blouse for a festive gathering where restraint reads as its own elegance. It moves as well between the meditative and the celebratory as the syllable it depicts. The free-size bail accommodates most chains, and the sterling silver construction means the finish holds well against daily wear with only occasional light polishing. Twenty-seven buyers across India have already chosen it, which says something about what a well-made, honest piece of devotional silver can quietly accomplish.
