Description

Devotion, rendered in silver, worn close to the heart. Hanuman, the tireless and the steadfast, has been a subject of Indian devotional metalwork for centuries, appearing on amulets carried into battle, pendants worn by wrestlers and wrestlers' sons, and temple offerings cast in everything from panchaloha to fine silver. This pendant continues that lineage quietly. Shaped in sterling silver and measuring 1.4 inches (approximately 3.6 cm) in height and 0.9 inches (approximately 2.3 cm) in width, it carries the deity's silhouette with restraint: the mace, the mountainous posture, the tail curled skyward. Weighing 10 grams, the silver is substantial in the hand, the surface worked to catch light across the raised relief without ostentation. The finish sits between polish and matte, giving the piece an antique quality that recalls votive silverwork from the pilgrimage towns of North India. Worn on a fine silver chain or a black silk cord, this pendant pairs with a simple white kurta for everyday devotion, or with a handloom silk sari at a religious occasion, where its quiet authority speaks without competing with embellishment. The free-size bail accommodates most chains and cords, making it immediately wearable. Sterling silver of this weight holds its form through daily use and is easy to maintain with a soft cloth. A considered piece for the devout, the collector, or anyone who carries faith lightly and sincerely.
