Description

A fish that moves even when still, as all good silver work should. In the coastal craft traditions of South India and Bengal alike, the matsya has long been considered auspicious, a symbol of abundance and forward movement. This sterling silver fish pendant honours that lineage with unhurried confidence. Cast and finished by hand, the piece measures approximately 4.3 cm in height and 5.6 cm in width, giving it a quiet but commanding presence. At 20 grams, it carries real weight in the palm, the kind that signals solid silver rather than hollow form. The drilled setting at the crown allows the pendant to be threaded onto any chain of your choosing, making the silhouette clean and uninterrupted. The finish is a cool, burnished sterling tone, without stone embellishment or enamel, trusting entirely in the sculptural form and the material itself. Wear it on a fine oxidised silver chain over a white Chanderi kurta for a morning that asks nothing of you, or suspend it on a longer chain against a silk sari blouse for an evening that deserves something quietly considered. At 1.7 inches tall and 2.2 inches wide, the pendant sits comfortably at the collarbone on a shorter chain and drops elegantly to the sternum on a longer one. Offered in free size, it requires no adjustment and suits most necklines with ease, a piece that travels well from drawer to neckline without fuss.
