Description

A pilgrimage held close to the heart, cast in silver. The eighteen sacred steps of Sabarimala, each one a covenant between the devotee and Lord Ayyappan, are rendered here in sterling silver with the quiet authority of a craftsman who understands that devotion has its own grammar. The obverse carries the steps in relief, rising toward their divine purpose; turn the pendant and Ganesha presides on the reverse, remover of obstacles, completing a theology in the round. Worked in 92.5 sterling silver and finished to a warm, burnished lustre, the circular disc measures 1.2 inches, approximately 3 centimetres, across and weighs a considered 10 grams: substantial enough to feel meaningful against the skin, restrained enough never to overwhelm. South Indian devotional silversmithing, long practised along the temple corridors of Nagercoil and the Travancore craft belt, informs every line. Wear it on a black silk cord for the Mandalam season or the days leading to Makaravilakku. It pairs with equal ease on a fine sterling chain over a cream cotton kurta for daily prayer, or tucked inside a formal shirt collar as a private act of faith. At free size with a standard bail, the pendant accommodates most chains and cords already in your collection. The sterling silver holds its finish well with minimal care, making this a piece one reaches for every morning, not merely on occasion.
