Description

There is a quiet astronomy in silver, and this ring knows it well. The star has been a recurring motif in Indian ornament for centuries, appearing in the carved jalis of Rajasthani havelis and in the pressed silver jewellery of Bengal's festival seasons. Here it is rendered in sterling silver, stamped and hallmarked at 925 purity, its five or six radiating points forming a face of approximately 0.8 inches by 0.8 inches (roughly 2 cm by 2 cm). Stone settings nestle within or around the star's geometry, catching light the way inlaid work catches the eye in Jaipur's older bazaars, where silversmiths have long understood that a set stone is not decoration alone but a conversation between metal and light. The silver itself carries the cool, unhurried weight of 7 grams, substantial enough to read on the hand without crowding it, the surface finished to a brightness that suits the motif's celestial register. Wear it with a fine cotton kurta in ivory or pale indigo for an afternoon gathering, where it holds its own without announcement. For a dinner occasion, pair it with silk in deep bottle green or burgundy and let the stone catch candlelight. The adjustable shank means one ring travels across finger sizes without fuss, making it a considered gift as readily as a personal acquisition. The 925 silver resists tarnish well with ordinary care, and the open-back setting keeps the stone stable across daily wear.
