Description

She watches over you, cast in silver, worn close to the heart. Sri Mannamma Devi belongs to the living tradition of South Indian folk deity pendants, where village goddesses are honoured not only at the shrine but carried on the body as talismans of daily protection. This piece is rendered in sterling silver, its surface worked to bring out the goddess's form with quiet, devotional precision. The figure stands within a shaped plaque, her posture frontal and serene in the manner of ancient icon-making, echoing the votive metalwork long practised by craftspeople across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. At roughly four centimetres tall and just over two centimetres wide, and weighing six point seven six grams, the pendant is intimate rather than imposing. The silver carries a warm, slightly matte tone that deepens at the recesses, giving the relief its sacred presence. For everyday devotion, pair it on a simple black thread against a handloom cotton kurta; the contrast between the silver and dark cord keeps the focus on the goddess herself. For a more composed occasion, thread it on a fine silver chain beneath a Kanjeevaram silk blouse, letting it sit at the collarbone as quiet jewellery. Free-sized with a standard bail, it accommodates chains and cords of most widths without adjustment. Sterling silver of this weight wears well daily; a soft cloth is all it needs to restore its gentle lustre between wearings.
