Description

Shukracharya, guru of the asuras and regent of Venus, rendered in sterling silver at 1.15 inches (approximately 2.9 cm) of quiet, mythic authority. The pendant is cast and hand-finished in 925 sterling silver, a metal historically favoured for devotional iconography across North India for its cool lunar quality and its capacity to hold fine surface detail. Shukra Dev is depicted here in his classical form, seated and composed, the figure carrying the weight of Vedic cosmology in a silhouette small enough to rest against the sternum. The piece weighs exactly 6 grams, substantial enough to feel present without pulling at the chain. Sterling silver at this scale allows the craftsman to achieve the crisp line work that distinguishes a considered devotional piece from mass production. The finish reads as a matte-toned bright silver with modelled depth in the recessed details, the kind of subtle contrast that comes from careful hand-finishing rather than uniform machine polish. Worn on a fine sterling or oxidised silver chain, this pendant suits a cream Kanjivaram blouse worn for a Friday puja, Shukravaar being the day sacred to this deity. It pairs equally well with a simple white kurta on ordinary mornings, a quiet talisman that needs no occasion to justify it. Free-sized with a standard bail, it accepts most chains up to a moderate gauge. At 6 grams it sits flat and travels without fuss, an everyday devotional piece built for the long relationship between wearer and deity.
