Description

There are faces one recognises before one can say why. Shrinathji, the beloved child-form of Krishna worshipped at Nathdwara, has been rendered in devotional silver for centuries, his wide lotus eyes and serene brow a motif as familiar to the Vaishnava household as the sound of morning bells. This pendant works entirely in sterling silver, a metal prized for its cool, bright finish and its receptivity to fine hand-engraved detail. At one inch in height and 0.7 inches (roughly 2.5 by 1.8 centimetres) in width, the face is intimate rather than imposing, its relief-worked surface catching light softly without demanding attention. Weighing just four grams, the piece carries almost nothing at the throat, yet the quality of the silverwork gives it an unhurried, considered presence that belongs to a longer tradition of devotional craft. Worn on a fine silver chain, this pendant is quietly at home against a starched white kurta on a Tuesday puja morning, or tucked inside a silk blouse during Janmashtami festivities, where its devotional weight feels entirely right alongside embroidered and stone-set ceremonial jewellery. Sized to fit any wearer, with no adjustment required, the pendant is light enough for daily wear without pulling at even the most delicate chain. Sterling silver does develop a gentle patina over time; a soft polishing cloth restores its original brightness in moments, keeping the engraved detail crisp and the finish faithful to its making.
