Description

There are objects that hold a whole cosmology in the span of a single inch. This two-sided pendant renders the Shiivalingam on one face and the sacred syllable OM on the reverse, so that the wearer carries both form and sound, symbol and source, within a single piece of sterling silver. Struck and finished by hand, the pendant reads cleanly in the round, its circular silhouette approximately one inch in diameter (roughly 2.5 cm), with the Lingam rising in low relief against a polished ground and the AUM rendered with the kind of deliberate, unhurried line that silver rewards when it is worked slowly. At five grams, the weight is present without being heavy, sitting close to the throat with quiet authority. Sterling silver at this gauge takes a bright polish and holds it well, the metal ageing gradually into a warmer, lived-in lustre. Worn on a fine silver chain, this pendant suits a devotional morning and an evening out with equal ease. Pair it with a cream linen kurta for a considered everyday look, or let it anchor a silk sari blouse when the occasion calls for something quietly sacred. The pendant is free size in the sense that it is the chain length, not the piece itself, that governs how it sits. At one inch across and five grams, it is light enough for daily wear, resistant to everyday knocks, and requires only an occasional silver cloth to keep its surface bright.
