Description

There are devotions that need no words, only the quiet weight of silver against the heart. Cast in sterling silver and hand-finished to either a luminous polish or a softened vintage patina, this round pendant carries the face of Lord Rama in shallow relief, the deity's serene features contained within a disc that measures just 1.15 inches in height by 0.95 inches in width (approximately 2.9 cm by 2.4 cm). The vintage finish, fractionally wider at 1 inch (2.5 cm), allows the recessed lines of the portrait to read with particular depth, as though lifted from a temple frieze in the Vaishnavite silversmithing tradition practised across Nagercoil and parts of Bengal, where devotional silver work has long served both the household shrine and the body. At 8.1 grams, the piece carries an honest presence without any heaviness at the throat. The sterling silver is worked to hold fine surface detail: the crown, the composed expression, the circular frame that echoes the prabhamandala of classical iconography. Wear it on a fine silver chain with a silk Kanjivaram or a cream chanderi kurta for a puja gathering; equally, it reads beautifully against a simple cotton shirt for a quieter, daily act of remembrance. Free-sized and fastened for standard pendant chains, this piece suits daily wear with no adjustment required. Both finishes are suited to long-term use, the polished version bright and immediate, the vintage one acquiring only more character with time.
