Description

There are stones that hold light the way still water holds the moon. This pendant is worked in sterling silver, its surface shaped into a form that cradles a rainbow moonstone at its centre. The stone is the quiet protagonist here: adularescent, shifting between pearl-white and spectral blue as the light moves, set in a silver bezel that holds it securely without overwhelming its lustre. At seven grams, the piece has honest weight for its size, measuring four and a half centimetres in height by just under two centimetres in width (1.75 inches by 0.75 inches). Sterling silver of this kind, oxidised or brushed to a cool, matte finish, has long been the medium of choice for artisans working in the Rajasthani silver tradition, where restraint and precision carry more prestige than ornament for its own sake. The silhouette is elongated and considered, neither fussy nor stark. Wear it on a fine silver chain over a pale ivory kurta for an afternoon gathering where you want jewellery to be felt rather than announced. It sits equally well against the neckline of a silk blouse on a winter evening, the moonstone's blue flash reading almost like a watercolour wash under warm light. At free size with a standard bail, this pendant accommodates chains of varying thickness and length, making it genuinely versatile across different necklines. Sterling silver requires occasional polishing with a soft cloth to keep its tone, but rewards that small care faithfully.
