Description

There are days when a single piece of silver speaks more quietly than gold ever could. This pendant takes the sun as its subject and renders it in sterling silver with a restraint that feels almost meditative. The circular solar form, measuring 1.4 inches (approximately 3.6 cm) in height and 1.1 inches (approximately 2.8 cm) in width, radiates stylised rays outward from a central setting that holds a single pearl, lustrous and cool against the burnished metal. Sterling silver has long been the favoured ground of Indian craftsmen working outside the Kundan and Jadau traditions, particularly in the workshops of Rajasthan and Bengal where white metal is treated with the same seriousness afforded to gold. The pearl sits as the sun's eye, its soft iridescence catching light gently, and the whole pendant weighs just 5.5 grams, light enough to forget you are wearing it.
