Description

There is a quiet vanity to a peacock that has always suited jewellery. The morpankh, that single iridescent feather, is one of the oldest motifs in Indian adornment, appearing in Mughal miniatures, Rajasthani enamel work and temple goldsmithing alike. Here it is reinterpreted in polished brass, a metal with warm, golden undertones that lends itself naturally to statement craft without the weight of fine jewellery. The face of the ring measures approximately 2.7 cm tall by 2.5 cm wide, a generous silhouette that reads clearly across a room. Set across the feather's spine and vanes are American diamonds, faceted white stones that catch light cleanly and mimic the prismatic shimmer of a real morpankh's eye. The whole piece weighs just 6 grams, remarkably light for its visual scale. Wear it against a silk chanderi kurta at a mehendi afternoon, where its warmth will echo the gold-thread border. It works equally well at an evening dinner layered over a draped georgette sari, where the broad face sits proud and unhurried against the wrist's curve. The ring is adjustable, its open shank allowing it to be shaped to most finger sizes with gentle pressure. The brass is finished to resist everyday handling, and the stone settings are secure enough for regular wear. It is, simply, a considered piece for someone who knows a well-made thing when she holds it.
