Description

The peacock has always known how to carry beauty without effort. Worked in copper and finished in a warm gold plate, this pendant centres on a peacock in full display, its spread tail feathers framing a small floral motif at the heart of the composition. The silhouette is compact and considered: at 0.8 inches (roughly 2 cm) in both height and width, the pendant holds its detail without demanding attention. Matching earrings, at 0.7 inches (approximately 1.8 cm) in height and 0.6 inches (roughly 1.5 cm) in width, echo the same vocabulary. The total set weighs 9 grams, light enough for daily wear. The peacock as jewellery motif traces back through temple jewellery traditions from Nagercoil and the devotional goldwork of South India, where the bird appears as a sacred companion to Murugan and Saraswati. This piece distils that iconographic richness into something wearable and quietly meaningful. A set like this reads beautifully against a hand-woven cotton kurta in ivory or ochre, the gold plate catching the texture of the fabric. For festive occasions, pair it with a silk salwar in deep teal or forest green, letting the peacock's inherent affinity for those hues do the styling work. Because the base is copper with a gold-plated finish, the set sits lightly on the skin and resists the heaviness that heavier alloys can bring. Free size and easily re-strung, this is an accessible entry into heirloom sensibility.
