Description

Devotion has always found its most enduring form in silver. Panchmukhi Hanuman, the five-faced aspect of the deity who embodies omniscience and fearless protection, is rendered here in sterling silver with the kind of considered detail that belongs to the antique jewellery tradition of North India. Each of the five divine faces, Hanuman, Narasimha, Garuda, Varaha and Hayagriva, carries its own character within a compact silhouette measuring just 1.25 inches in height by 1.10 inches in width (approximately 3.18 cm by 2.79 cm). The antique finish is achieved by careful oxidation of the silver surface, darkening the recessed lines and allowing the raised relief to catch light with a warmth that mimics centuries-old temple metalwork. Sterling silver, at its standard 92.5 parts purity, gives the piece both honest weight and the durability that devotional jewellery demands. There are no stones here, no colour to compete; only silver and shadow. Wear it on a fine silver chain over a white cotton kurta on any Tuesday or Hanuman Jayanti puja morning, or let it anchor a silk dupatta ensemble at a festive family gathering. The pendant moves between the sacred and the sentimental with equal ease. At this compact size it sits neatly at the sternum without overwhelming a neckline. The antique oxidised finish resists tarnish better than polished silver with everyday wear and requires only occasional cleaning with a soft cloth to restore its deep, contemplative tone.
