Description

There are silences in silver that speak louder than ornament. Padmapani, the lotus-bearing form of Avalokiteshvara, has been a subject of devotional metalwork across the Indian subcontinent for centuries, from the gilded viharas of Bengal to the silver-smithing ateliers of Rajasthan. This pendant renders that serene iconography in sterling silver, the figure cast with quiet precision, the lotus held aloft as both symbol and compositional anchor. Measuring two inches in height by one inch in width (approximately 5 cm by 2.5 cm) and weighing a substantial 23 grams, the piece carries genuine heft without heaviness. It is offered in two finishes: Emerald, where a stone of deep viridian green lends devotional colour to the composition, and Pearl, where the cool luminescence of the gem softens the silver's natural brilliance into something almost contemplative. For daily wear, pair the Emerald variant with a handloom cotton kurta in ivory or moss, letting the pendant speak without competition. For occasions with ceremony, the Pearl finish sits beautifully at the neckline of a silk blouse beneath a Banarasi or Kanjeevaram drape. The free-size bail accommodates most chain widths, and the sterling silver construction ensures the pendant remains wearable across seasons without tarnishing unduly with regular, gentle care. At this weight and scale, it is an object that asks to be noticed, then considered, then kept for a very long time.
