Description

There are silhouettes that need no introduction, and the oval has always been one of them. Sterling silver, worked into a gently domed oval frame, holds a single carnelian at its centre with quiet authority. Carnelian, that warm amber-to-terracotta stone beloved in Mughal-era jewellery and later refined in the ateliers of Jaipur's gem-setters, brings both colour and intention to this piece. The deep reddish-orange of the cabochon glows against the cool, burnished silver surround, the contrast unhurried and deliberate. At 1.55 inches in height by 1 inch in width (approximately 3.9 cm by 2.5 cm) and a substantial 36.8 grams, the pendant carries real presence without demanding attention. The sterling silver setting is shaped and finished by hand, its surface offering that characteristic soft lustre particular to well-worked silver rather than the hard shine of plated alternatives. Worn against a cream or ivory silk kurta, the carnelian reads as a quietly opulent accent for a formal occasion. For daily wear, the pendant pairs equally well with a fine cotton block-print kurti, letting the stone's warm earth tones lead. The pendant is designed to be worn on a chain of your choosing, and at free size it suits any neckline from collarbone to décolletage. Sterling silver at this weight and finish requires only occasional gentle polishing to retain its glow, making this an heirloom-quality piece suited to everyday wear as much as celebration.
