Description

There are nights when the moon does not shine down but seems, instead, to glow from within. This oval-cut moonstone pendant is set in sterling silver, the stone cradled in a slim bezel that holds it close without crowding it. Moonstone has long been cherished in the Indian jewellery tradition for its adularescence, that quiet blue-white light that shifts as the piece moves. Sterling silver, with its cool, unhurried lustre, is the only metal that truly honours this quality, letting the stone remain the conversation rather than the setting. The pendant measures approximately 3 cm in height and 1.27 cm in width, and weighs a considered 7 grams, present enough to be felt, light enough to be forgotten. It belongs to a quieter lineage of Indian silver craft, closer in spirit to the delicate silverwork of Rajasthan than to anything that announces itself loudly. Wear it against an ivory chanderi kurta for a Sunday lunch where elegance is unstudied. For evening, let it rest at the neckline of a raw silk blouse paired with a sheer georgette sari in steel grey or deep teal. The piece is free-size, designed for a standard chain or cord. Sterling silver does require occasional gentle polishing to maintain its finish, but its density and honest weight mean it sits well against the collarbone without tilting or twisting. A pendant for daily devotion to beauty.
