Description

There are syllables older than language, and the Aum is one of them. Cast in sterling silver and finished to a quiet lustre, this pendant traces the sacred Aum in its classical Devanagari form. The motif sits within a gently rounded silhouette, the curves of the ligature rendered with the kind of deliberate hand that comes from silversmithing traditions long practised across Rajasthan and Bengal, where devotional jewellery has always occupied the same breath as prayer. Sterling silver, chosen here for its cool weight and its capacity to hold fine line work, carries the symbol without ornament or distraction. There are no stones, no granulation, no applied colour. The restraint is itself a kind of reverence. A simple bale sits at the crown, ready to receive a chain of your choosing. The pendant measures approximately two and a half centimetres in height and just over two centimetres in width, and weighs a precise two grammes on the wrist. Wear it against a cream silk kurta for a festival morning puja, where it will catch the diyas' light with understated grace. It reads equally well beneath the collar of a fine cotton shirt, paired with a contemporary linen suit for a diaspora wedding or a cultural evening abroad. At two grammes, it rests almost without presence against the skin, which is precisely the point. The free-size bale accommodates chains from delicate to medium gauge, making this a piece that asks very little and quietly endures.
