Description
There are prayers older than language, and this bead carries four of them. Handcarved in Nepal by silversmiths schooled in the Himalayan tradition of sacred metalwork, each piece presents four of the Ashtamangala, the eight auspicious symbols of Buddhist devotion, rendered in superfine relief across a sterling silver surface. The carving is unhurried and precise: the symbols emerge from the silver not as decoration but as doctrine, their lines clean enough to read like scripture. At roughly 28 mm by 24 mm and weighing 10 grams, the bead has real presence in the hand, a satisfying density that speaks to the thickness of the silver and the depth of the engraving. Sterling silver at this gauge develops a warm, slightly matte patina with wear, softening the brightness into something more contemplative and antique in character. Thread it onto a silk cord for a meditation mala or a quiet everyday pendant, worn over a cream Chanderi kurta on a Tuesday morning that calls for intention. For a more curated look, combine it with oxidised silver chains of varying lengths against a deep indigo or slate linen tunic at a cultural gathering or gallery opening. Sold individually as a price-per-piece offering within a mixed lot, the bead is free-sized for stringing onto cords or chains of your choosing. Sterling silver requires occasional gentle polishing with a dry cloth to maintain its lustre and protect the carved detail from dulling.
