Description

There are nine stones, and the sky has always known their names. The navaratna is among the oldest auspicious configurations in Indian jewellery, a constellation of nine gemstones whose combined planetary energies are believed to bring protection and grace to the wearer. Here, that ancient geometry takes the form of a star, rendered in sterling silver with each stone set into its own dedicated bezel or prong, radiating outward from a central gem like rays caught in metal. The star silhouette, roughly 0.65 inches (approximately 1.65 cm) at its tallest point, is neither oversized nor timid; it holds its form with quiet conviction. Sterling silver, chosen here for its cool lustre and its willingness to be worked into fine detail, gives the piece an unpolished honesty that gold would not. The tradition of setting navaratna in silver rather than gold has its own lineage, particularly in devotional and protective jewellery across Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. Wear it on the index finger over a silk kurta in deep indigo for a festive dinner, or layer it against a plain white cotton kurta for an afternoon that asks for something considered but unhurried. The ring is offered in one universal size and weighs a grounded 6.47 grams, substantial enough to feel present on the hand without heaviness. The sterling silver will develop a gentle patina over time, and a soft cloth restores its original brightness in moments.
