Description

From the oldest verses of Odisha, a creature of impossible grace arrives in sterling silver. The Navagunjara is among the most arresting figures in the Odishan Vaishnava imagination: nine animals fused into one transcendent form, each limb a different creature, the whole a vision of the divine in disguise. Here, Odishan iconographic tradition is rendered in sterling silver with the patience of a craftsman who knows the story well. The motif is worked in fine relief, the silversmith's chisel tracing the peacock head, the lion, the elephant and their kin into a form that reads as both devotional object and wearable sculpture. At just 1.39 grams and measuring roughly 2.92 centimetres tall by 1.14 centimetres wide, the pendant is slender, almost intimate, inviting a closeness the way sacred talismans always do. The finish is a warm oxidised silver, deepening the carved recesses so every contour tells. Wear it on a fine silver chain against the neckline of a white handloom cotton kurta for a quietly devotional, everyday elegance. Equally, it sits with intention on a silk blouse beneath a sheer Odishan sambalpuri dupatta, a piece of mythology worn with ceremony. The pendant accommodates any chain of standard gauge and carries no clasp of its own, leaving that choice open. Its slight weight means it rests without pulling, suitable for daily wear and mindful enough for puja days and quiet celebrations alike.
