Description

Worn by those who understand that the oldest symbols carry the longest memory. The Naga, the sacred serpent of Indian cosmology, coils and presides over this sterling silver pendant with quiet authority. Across the tribal traditions of Nagaland and the wider Naga cultural belt, the serpent is not ornament but invocation, a being of protection and elemental power rendered here in oxidised sterling silver whose darkened recesses give the motif its depth and musculature. Set into the body of the piece, shell inlay introduces a pale, luminous counterpoint to the metal, the organic warmth of the material recalling the riverine and forest world from which Naga adornment traditions draw their vocabulary. The pendant measures approximately 3.8 cm by 5.6 cm and weighs 19 grams, a presence you feel and notice without being burdened by it. Worn on a long silver chain over an ivory or undyed cotton kurta, it reads as studied and intentional. Against a dark silk blouse with a Chanderi sari, it anchors the neckline with an almost ceremonial gravity, suitable for cultural evenings or art world gatherings where provenance matters. The piece comes in free size, its bail accommodating chains of varying thickness with ease. Sterling silver with a deliberate oxidised finish develops its own patina over time and is best kept away from prolonged moisture. A soft cloth restores its surface readily. At 19 grams, it wears with confident substance daily.
