Description

There are devotions that do not need words, only form. The Vaishnav tilak, that double-curved mark of Vishnu's grace, has been rendered here in sterling silver as the governing silhouette of this pendant. Within its arch, Radha and Krishna stand together, the eternal pair of Braj, surrounded by the delicate suggestion of musical instruments that have long accompanied their legend in temple iconography. The surface carries the kind of oxidised detailing that Bengali and Jaipur silver craftsmen have used for generations to pull depth from flat metal, allowing shadow to define a lotus scroll here, a bansuri there. At 1.65 inches tall and 0.65 inches wide (approximately 4.19 cm by 1.65 cm), the pendant holds quiet authority without weight. Its 5.47 grammes of sterling silver sit close to the body, the metal cool and substantial in the hand. Wear it on a fine sterling chain over an off-white chanderi kurta for a morning at the temple, or let it rest against the neckline of a deep-toned silk blouse at a festive lunch where understated devotion speaks louder than ornament. The pendant arrives in a free-size format, meaning the pairing chain and clasp are the wearer's own choice. Sterling silver at this weight is resilient enough for daily wear and responds well to a soft cloth; the oxidised finish, if it lightens over time, is easily restored by a silversmith with a brief patination treatment.
