Description

A ring that speaks before your hand moves. Kundan work finds some of its most exuberant expression in Rajasthan, where karigars press coloured stones into a bed of refined lac beneath foiled glass settings, coaxing deep reds, forest greens, peacock blues and warm ambers into a single composition. This piece follows that tradition faithfully. The multicoloured stones are set in the Kundan manner across the face of the ring, their surfaces catching light in a way that polished metal alone never could. A border of small pearls encircles the setting, drawing the eye inward and lending the piece that characteristic stillness that pearl always brings to busy stonework. The base is brass, keeping the ring light at twelve grams, with a warm gold-toned finish that holds its own against the riot of colour above it. Wear it with a heavily embroidered anarkali for a wedding mehendi, where the multicolour palette echoes the thread work without competing. On a simpler note, it reads beautifully against the ivory border of a Kerala kasavu saree, adding exactly the right note of colour to an otherwise restrained look. The adjustable band opens at the back, fitting most fingers without sizing and making it genuinely practical for everyday wear. At twelve grams it sits with presence but not weight. The brass construction ensures durability, and the Kundan setting, when kept away from water, retains its colour and composure season after season.
