Description

There is something quietly alive about a string of gemstone chips, each fragment catching light at its own angle. These chips are not cut to uniformity. They are tumbled and strung in the manner of the Indian bead tradition, where irregularity is the point. Each piece along this sixteen-inch string (approximately 40.6 cm) carries its own surface history: the pale translucence of quartz, the warm earth of carnelian, the cool depth of lapis or turquoise, the soft blush of rose-toned stone. The multicolour arrangement follows no strict pattern, which is precisely its character. At 38.6 grams, the string has real weight in the hand, the kind that settles comfortably at the collarbone. The chips are drilled and knotted in the tradition of artisan bead-stringing, where the goal is not polish but presence, a language older than any setting or solder. Wear this string alone against a cotton kurta in ivory or saffron, and the colour fragments speak for themselves. Layer it over a silk blouse with a Chanderi dupatta for a festive afternoon, and it reads as deliberate, considered ornament. The free-size strand fits most necklines without adjustment. The natural chip form means no two strings are identical in colour distribution, making each one genuinely singular. This is jewellery that requires no occasion to justify itself, only the willingness to wear something made with patience and an honest hand.
