Description

A column of colour, still as a prayer flag in windless air. Sterling silver, worked to a clean vertical bar, holds a quiet procession of multi-gemstones set one above the other in a silhouette that measures just 1.3 inches (approximately 3.3 cm) in height and 0.7 inches (approximately 1.8 cm) in width. The tradition of stacking stones along a single linear axis has deep roots in Indian silver craft, from the workshop lanes of Jaipur to the quieter ateliers of Bengal, where silver has always been treated not as second-best but as a medium with its own integrity. Here, each stone sits in a simple bezel or prong cradle, letting the gemstone hues speak without ornamental interference. The silver itself carries a polished finish that catches light cleanly, and the pendant weighs a grounding 5.5 grams, substantial without heaviness. Wear it against the open neckline of a fine cotton kurta in ivory or muted saffron, where the column of stones reads like an illuminated manuscript. It works equally well with a silk blouse under a contemporary blazer for a festive lunch or a gallery opening, the verticality drawing the eye with restraint. Free in size and designed to pair with a standard chain, this piece asks very little of its wearer in daily care. Sterling silver benefits from occasional polishing with a soft cloth, and the compact form tucks comfortably against the collarbone for all-day wearing.
