Description

There are goddesses whose stories live not in temples alone, but in the quiet permanence of silver. Mogal Maa, a form venerated across Rajasthan and Gujarat, appears here in sterling silver rendered through the ancient art of Meenakari: a technique in which coloured enamels are fired and layered into recessed channels, binding pigment to metal so completely that the two become inseparable. The pendant measures 1.5 inches in height by 1.15 inches in width (approximately 3.8 cm by 2.9 cm) and weighs a considered 10 grams, substantial enough to carry the iconographic detail the subject demands. The silhouette frames the deity in a classical arch, the enamel work drawing on the jewel-bright palette long associated with Jaipur's master Meenakars, where this craft has been passed down through family workshops for generations. Sterling silver, pure and unalloyed in its category, gives the base a cool luminosity that allows the fired colours to read with clarity against the metal. Worn on a fine silver chain, this pendant sits beautifully against the neckline of a handwoven cotton kurta for daily devotion, or against raw silk at a festive gathering where heirloom craft is understood and appreciated. The free-size pendant suits most chain lengths and needs no resizing. The fired enamel surface is durable for regular wear; a soft dry cloth preserves its brilliance. A meaningful acquisition for the collector drawn to sacred iconography and living craft tradition.
