Description
Colour is its own kind of inheritance. Each bead in this set carries the unmistakable signature of Meenakari, the centuries-old enamelling tradition that found its finest voice in the workshops of Jaipur. Here, craftsmen work vitreous enamel into metal in layers of fired colour, building up surfaces that glow rather than simply shine. These beads follow that lineage closely: the enamel is applied in the characteristic style of the craft, with motifs drawn from the floral and geometric vocabulary that Rajasthani karigars have refined across generations. Each individual bead measures approximately one-and-a-half centimetres in height by just over one centimetre in width (0.6 inches by 0.4 inches), and the entire strand weighs a delicate two grams. The palette is as pictured, rich and deliberate, the kind of colour that reads as considered rather than decorative. Thread these beads into a finished necklace and they suit a handwoven chanderi kurta at a festive lunch, or layer them against a crisp ivory cotton during a Diwali mehendi afternoon. The scale is intimate enough to work without competing with heavier pieces. At free size, the strand adapts readily to most necklace-length preferences. The low weight means all-day comfort, and the fired enamel surface, far more durable than paint or resin, holds its colour well with ordinary care. A soft cloth is all the cleaning these beads will ever ask for.
