Description

She has been worshipped across Gujarat for centuries, and now she rests, radiant and still, at the throat. Mata Umiya, the supreme form of Goddess Parvati venerated especially among the Patidar community of Gujarat, is rendered here in sterling silver with devotional precision. The pendant measures 1.55 inches in height by 1 inch in width (approximately 3.9 cm by 2.5 cm), and at 6 grams it carries a satisfying presence without burdening the neckline. The goddess is depicted in her frontal, iconic form, her expression serene and composed within a shaped silver frame that echoes the arched pradakshina panels found in temple jewellery traditions. The silverwork relies on careful surface detailing to bring the deity's features and adornments to life, a technique that sits in quiet conversation with the repoussé and oxidised silver crafts practised across Rajasthan and Gujarat both. For daily devotional wear, thread this pendant on a simple black cord beneath a cotton kurta. For a festive occasion, navratri or a family puja gathering, let it hang from a fine sterling chain against a silk blouse, where the silver catches the lamp-light. The free-size pendant suits all necklines without adjustment. Sterling silver develops a gentle patina with wear; a soft cloth restores its brightness when desired. The modest weight makes it comfortable through long hours, and the clean reverse sits flush against the skin without snagging fabric.
