Description

There are goddesses who do not ask to be adorned; they simply wait to be recognised. Cast in sterling silver and worked by hand, this pendant carries the rarely invoked form of Mata Sadhi, a fierce and sheltering aspect of Durga whose iconography is rooted in the devotional traditions of rural and temple craft across India. The figure is rendered with quiet precision: the goddess's posture conveys both authority and grace, the silverwork attending to the details of her crown, weapons and mudra with the kind of considered line that speaks of a maker trained in sacred image-making rather than commercial repetition. Sterling silver, chosen here for its cool luminosity and its long association with divine offerings, gives the pendant a satin weight that sits honestly against the skin. At one point three inches in height (approximately three point three centimetres) and zero point seven inches in width (approximately one point eight centimetres), weighing four point two grams, it is intimate in scale without being modest in presence. Wear this pendant on a fine silver chain against a cream or ivory hand-block cotton kurta for daily puja mornings, or let it rest at the collarbone over a silk chanderi blouse paired with a kanjeevaram for a festival or family ceremony. The free-size bail accommodates chains of varying gauges. The sterling silver finish requires no elaborate care, only occasional polishing with a soft cloth, making this a piece suited to quiet, consistent devotion rather than occasion alone.
