Description

There is a quietness to silver that gold rarely permits. The marquise silhouette is one of jewellery's most considered geometries: its pointed ellipse elongates the finger with an architectural clarity that belongs as much to the ateliers of Jaipur's silver craftsmen as it does to European fine jewellery tradition. Here, a single cubic zirconia stone is set at the centre of a sterling silver band, its faceted surface catching and scattering light in the manner of a polished white topaz. The stone rises eleven millimetres from the shank, giving the ring a quiet but unmistakable presence on the hand. Sterling silver, with its cool blue-white lustre, flatters the stone without competing with it. The band itself is smooth and unadorned, keeping the eye entirely on the marquise crown. At three grams, the ring sits with the kind of settled, unhurried weight that speaks of honest metalwork rather than hollow construction. Worn alone, this ring suits a fine Chanderi kurta in ivory or pale grey at an intimate family gathering. Paired with a slim silver bangle in a polished finish, it moves effortlessly into an evening of understated elegance at a cultural event or an art preview. The ring is available in size seven, suited to a standard Indian ring finger, and the eleven-millimetre height remains comfortable beneath a kurta sleeve. Sterling silver requires only occasional polishing with a soft cloth to maintain its characteristic bright finish through daily wear.
