Description

There are rings, and then there are rings that hold a whole geometry of devotion. The mandala has always been more than ornament. Here, its concentric grammar is rendered in the Kundan tradition: glass stones pressed flat into a polished brass base, each fragment of colour held in place by thin gold-tinted foils that catch and return the light in the manner of old Rajasthani court jewellery. The piece measures 1.1 inches in height by 1.6 inches in width (approximately 2.8 cm by 4.1 cm) and weighs a substantial 19 grams, giving it the heft of something considered rather than casual. Two colour readings are offered: a warm peach, soft as a Jaipur sunset, and a cool sea green that calls to mind enamel work from the workshops around Bikaner. The brass foundation is finished to a burnished warmth, providing an honest, un-precious ground for the stones set above it. Wear the peach colourway against ivory or raw silk for a daytime puja or festive lunch. The sea green reads beautifully alongside deep teal or wine-coloured chanderi at an evening gathering or engagement mehendi. The adjustable shank opens the ring to most finger sizes without tools, making it a considered gift as well as a personal acquisition. At just over 19 grams, the presence on the hand is real without being tiring across a long occasion. Brass ages graciously; a soft cloth is all the care it asks.
