Description

Devotion, rendered in colour and silver. Mama Dev arrives here as a meenakari pendant cast in sterling silver, the deity's form held within a shaped frame that measures 1.65 inches (4.19 cm) in height and 1.15 inches (2.92 cm) in width. Meenakari, the ancient art of fusing powdered glass enamels onto metal at high temperatures, belongs most intimately to the ateliers of Jaipur, where karigars have spent centuries coaxing jewel-like colour from fire and craft. On this pendant, that tradition speaks quietly: the divine figure is rendered with the careful, devotional attention that characterises religious meenakari work, the enamel tones set against the cool sheen of sterling silver. Weighing 7.7 grams, it carries a substantive, honest presence on the chest without any heaviness of ornament. Wear it as a daily act of faith, layered against a handwoven cotton kurta in ivory or indigo on ordinary mornings. For festival days, it sits equally well over silk, a quiet centre of intention against the richness of a Banarasi or a Chanderi dupatta. Free-sized and designed for a pendant chain, it suits a variety of necklines, from round to boat-neck. Sterling silver of this weight wears durably over years; keep it away from moisture and perfume to preserve the integrity of the enamel and the silver's natural lustre.
