Description

There are stones that carry the earth's own memory, and malachite is one of them. Cut into a substantial cabochon and set in sterling silver, this ring presents the stone's swirling bands of deep forest green at a height of 18 mm, giving the piece a sculptural presence that reads as jewellery with intention. The setting is clean and architectural, allowing the silver's cool burnished finish to frame the malachite without competing with its natural patterning. Malachite has long held a place in the Indian jeweller's vocabulary, valued for its saturated colour and the way no two stones ever repeat themselves. At 10 grams, the ring carries genuine weight on the hand, the kind that reminds you it is there. Sterling silver, worked simply here, allows the stone to be the whole conversation. Worn with a handwoven cotton kurta in ivory or ochre, it becomes the single note the outfit needs. For an evening occasion, it pairs beautifully with a silk chanderi in deep jewel tones, where the green reads as something between heirloom and contemporary statement. Available in sizes 6.5, 7, 8 and 9, the ring accommodates a range of fits. The straightforward band construction means it sits comfortably through a long day, resists tipping on the finger and requires only a soft cloth to maintain its polish. A considered, unhurried piece.
