Description

A benediction you carry close, cast in brass and worn over the heart. Lord Venkateswara, the presiding deity of Tirumala and one of the most beloved forms of Vishnu in South Indian devotional life, appears here in a brooch format that draws from the long tradition of temple jewellery. Cast in brass, a metal with centuries of ritual significance in South Indian shrines and processional ornaments, the piece measures 2.2 inches (approximately 5.6 cm) in height and 0.9 inches (approximately 2.3 cm) in width. That slender verticality suits the iconic silhouette of the deity: tall, crowned, frontal. The warm golden tone of the brass is kept close to its natural finish, recalling the burnished votive objects found in Nagercoil and Tanjore temple workshops. At just under 21 grams, it holds a pleasing, substantial weight for something so modestly proportioned, lending it the quiet authority of a devotional object rather than mere accessory. Pin it at the centre of a Kanjivaram silk drape for a Vaikunta Ekadasi puja, or wear it over a deep-hued cotton kurta during a temple visit. It moves equally well from the sacred to the considered everyday, anchoring a muted ensemble with devotional intent. The brooch is offered as free size, secured by a standard pin fastening at the reverse. Brass, properly stored away from moisture, retains its lustre over years of wear and needs only a gentle cloth to restore its warmth.
