Description

There are prayers that do not need words, only silver. This pendant carries the face of Lord Venkateswara of Tirupati, rendered in sterling silver by hands schooled in South Indian temple jewellery tradition. The antique finish, achieved through careful oxidisation, draws the eye into every engraved detail: the conical kiritam crown, the serene gaze, the subtle relief of sacred ornaments framing the deity's form. At 1.4 inches in height and 1 inch in width (approximately 3.5 cm by 2.5 cm), the pendant occupies exactly the right scale, devotional without being theatrical. Weighing 11 grams, the sterling silver carries a satisfying solidity, the kind that reminds you this is not costume jewellery but a considered piece of wearable faith. The oxidised surface gives it the warmth of antiquity, echoing the silver repousse work long associated with temple towns such as Nagercoil and the sacred silversmithing traditions of Tamil Nadu. Wear it on a fine black thread or a sterling silver chain against a silk Kanjeevaram blouse for a temple visit or festive puja; it sits equally well on a plain white cotton kurta on an ordinary Thursday, which is, for many, its truest occasion. The free-size pendant is designed to pair with any chain or cord up to standard width. The antique oxidised finish requires no special maintenance beyond occasional gentle cleaning. Its weight and scale make it comfortable for all-day wear.
